SVARS Data Entry and Scoring

The Sustainable Ventilation Assessment & Rating is performed on an annual basis. The findings that are reported in the organizations Climate Action Plan and Green House Report are the documented evidence for the SVARS score in this public database. This database is populated by the organizations using the SVARS and by researchers that are able to access public information and provide SVARS data.

Score

1. Does the organizations Climate Action Plan explicitly state that the ventilation requirements follow the 2024 CDC guideline to aim for 5+ ACH in all public spaces?

Score = 10

Requirement

1

2. Is there a course grain ventilation carbon footprint model identifying the ACH level and carbon footprint for each building?

Score = 10

Model

1

3. Is there a fine grain ventilation carbon footprint model identifying the ACH level and carbon footprint for each space / room?

Score = 10

Model

1

4. Using design data has the ACH level been calculated for each space / room?

Score = 20 * percent of spaces that have calculated ACH (Score = 20 * 10% = 2)

Model

2

5. Using measured data has the ACH level been measured for each space / room?

Score = 20 * percent of spaces that have measured ACH (Score = 20 * 10% = 2)

Survey

6. Do the public spaces have 5+ ACH?

Score = 20 * percent of spaces that have 5+ ACH (Score = 20 * 10% = 2)

Requirement

2

7. Is there a Ventilation Quality Improvement program that uses a formal Ventilation Quality Improvement Indicator (QII)?

Score = 20
See: https://www.cassbeth.com/qidc/index.html

Quality

3

8. Are there BAS / BMS / EMS systems in the public spaces / rooms?

Score = 10 * percent of spaces that have the system(s) (Score = 10 * 10% = 1)

Automation

2

9. Do the BAS / BMS / EMS systems in the public spaces report the actual ACH levels and ventilation power usage kWh?

Score = 20 * percent of spaces that have the system(s) (Score = 20 * 10% = 2)

Automation

2

10. Has the Green House Report separately reported Metered Ventilation Carbon footprint?

Metered Score = 20 * percent of the facilities (Score = 20 * 10% = 2)

Reporting

2

11. Has the Green House Report separately reported Modeled Ventilation Carbon footprint?

Modeled Score = 10 * percent of the facilities (Score = 10 * 80% = 8)

It is understood that metered data may not be available. In this case modeled data may be used to determine the ventilation carbon footprint. There may be facilities that have no data. For example the Total Score = Metered Score + Modeled Score; Total Score = 2 + 8 = 10, where 10% of the facilities have no data.

Reporting

2

12. Has the Green House Report Identified the Average, Maximum, and Minimum ACH levels in all facilities?

Score = 20 * percent of the facilities ( Score = 20 * 100% = 20)

Reporting

2

13. Is there an occupant satisfaction survey that meets or exceeds the minimum criteria specified in this SVARS?

Score = 10
See: https://www.cassbeth.com/qidc/ventilation-scorecard.html

Quality

2

14. If the room ventilation is controlled by the occupants, is there a sign stating to turn the ventilation On upon room entry and Off upon room exist?

Score = 10 * percent of rooms ( Score = 10 * 100% = 10)

When occupants visit a room they look for a thermostat or unit ventilator and turn on the Fan if there is a fan switch available and it is not physically locked. When there is a room thermostat, move the Fan switch from Auto to On. This will turn on the fan and it will stay on regardless of temperature.

15. Is there a ventilation carbon footprint training session and or guidelines provided to all employees and room leaders using the room for an event?

Score = 10

16. Does each room have a ventilation certificate showing the room name, room size (area and height), room CFM, room ACH, date, and inspection authority?

Score = 10
